UMAC 2025

The day was drawing to a close, and the twelve came to him and said, “Send the crowd away, so that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside to lodge and get provisions, for we are here in a deserted place.” But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.” For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” They did so and had them all sit down. And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed and broke them and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were filled, and what was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.- Luke 9: 12-17, NRSV

You are invited to UMAC 2025, Oct. 26-29 at Church of the Resurrection UMC in Leawood, Kansas, where we’ll talk about what it means to be more than enough as a communicator in this time and place in our United Methodist Church. We all know what it means to be a communicator asked to do more with less. We identify as the broken pieces of bread in this story. But God also knows what we have, and that we are more than enough to be a blessing in our roles as communicators and children of the Beloved. On the agenda for our time together:

  • The chance to worship at Church of the Resurrection on Sunday (Oct. 26) at 5 p.m., followed by a reception for communicators.

  • Worship with Bishop David Wilson of the Great Plains Conference and worship with Rev. Adam Hamilton from Church of the Resurrection

  • Speakers will talk about honoring the stories of our Indigenous siblings, the new UMC vision statement and rebranding for our future, visual storytelling, and more.

  • Workshops will cover topics from AI to podcasts, data-driven communications decisions, local church resources, and truth-telling circles.

  • Our annual UMAC business meeting

  • An awards gala and reception on Tuesday!
