At it's 2025 Annual Meeting in Kansas City, the United Methodist Association of Communicators honored Royya James for more than 16 years of service to UMAC. She served much of that time as UMAC's first ever executive director. Royya provided leadership, friendship, support, and behind the scenes administration in service to the members of UMAC as part of her role with United Methodist Communications.

Joe Iovino serves as the team lead for denominational content strategy at United Methodist Communications. Since 2014, he has been a devoted and proactive leader within the agency that serves communication ministry by crafting stories and resources to help members and leaders forge forward in faith as United Methodists. Hundreds of United Methodist communicators were honored October 28 with an awards celebration at the annual meeting of the United Methodist Association of Communicators

We are excited to announce that the 2025 United Methodist Association of Communicators (UMAC) Awards are now open!

UMAC Leadership Team has decided to waive the membership registration fee for 2025 and will bring a proposal to the annual meeting Oct. 26-28 to waive the fee again in 2026.

You are invited to UMAC 2025, Oct. 26-29 at Church of the Resurrection UMC in Leawood, Kansas, where we’ll talk about what it means to be more than enough as a communicator in this time and place in our United Methodist Church.

We can’t wait to be back together again Oct. 22-25 at the Charleston Marriott, in Charleston, South Carolina.
