LEAWOOD, KS – Becoming a UMAC member just got a whole lot easier.

The United Methodist Association of Communicators (UMAC) Leadership Team has decided to waive the membership registration fee for 2025 and will bring a proposal to the annual meeting Oct. 26-28 to waive the fee again in 2026.
“Everyone who is working to uplift the voices and tell the stories of the people and ministries of The United Methodist Church is a communicator,” said Dan O’Mara, chair of the UMAC Leadership Team. “We want to think boldly about the future of our organization and are asking UMAC members who attend our annual meeting in Kansas City to consider taking a courageous step forward in faith.”
There will continue to be a fee for UMAC award submissions, and you must be a registered member of UMAC in order to submit those awards. But the need to pay an additional membership fee in order to participate will be put on hold.
Participants at the 2025 UMAC annual meeting – Oct. 26-28 at Resurrection: A United Methodist Church, in the Kansas City area – will explore the theme “More than Enough” using the parable of the five loaves and two fish from Luke 9: 12-17.
“Every communicator across the connection is feeling pulled in multiple directions and perhaps feel like they’re being asked to do more with less, but Jesus tells us we are more than enough” said Kristen Caldwell, vice chair of UMAC. “If we can lighten the burden for our fellow communicators while we explore more sustainable funding streams, then everyone benefits.”
The UMAC Leadership Team hopes this opens the door for even more people to become members and will encourage members and friends to continue to give generously to our organization.
